Turbo FAQ

  1. Can I use the stock Turbo II turbo?  The stock turbo is good to about 275 - 285 HP.  If you want more power, you'll need to upgrade from the stock turbo.
  2. Should I use an 87-99 style turbo or 89-91 turbo?  The 89-91 style turbo flows more than the earlier version.  If you have the later style available, it is preferrable.
  3. What aftermarket turbo is best to use?  The discussion about what is "best" for your specific application should be discussed with someone who is very knowledgeable about turbos.  For those who are looking for big power, upgraded turbos such as the KKK turbos or Garrett will surely fit the bill.  If you are interested in getting far more than stock horsepower, you should consult a rotary racing shop, or business who can put together a complete package for you.
  4. Can I use a 13B turbo on a 12A car?  The 13B turbo (from a Turbo II) will provide more than adequate air flow for a stock 12A or ported 12A application.  You can also fabricate a 12A -> 13B exhaust adapter by purchasing two exhaust manifold adapter plates from Racing beat and welding some tubing between the two plates.
